Biography

Andrea Chandler is a native of Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was educated at Dalhousie University (B.A. 1983, B.A. Honours certificate, 1984), Carleton University (M.A., 1987) and Columbia University (M.Phil, 1990; Ph.D., 1992). She joined the faculty of the Department of Political Science at Carleton University in 1993. She is the author of Institutions of Isolation: Border Controls in the Soviet Union and its Successor States, 1917-1993 (Montreal: McGill-Queen's University Press, 1998).
