ASPHALT - Photos 2 and 3

The image on the left is asphalt rolled with the AMIR-1 prototype roller. The image on the right is asphalt rolled with conventional rollers. In the right-hand image a liquid polymer, which later hardened, was forced into the asphalt's cracks to form a sealed cylinder. This is the "donut" shape in the image. This allowed water to be poured into the center to measure the permeability of the conventionally-rolled asphalt.
