Background
Dr. Halim was born in Egypt, the land of the Sphinx and the Pyramids. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Alexandria University, an M.A.Sc. from University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo. He is currently a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carleton University, in Ottawa, Canada. Also, Dr. Halim is the Director of the Centre for Geosynthetics Research Information and Development. He has lectured and consulted in many countries around the world, including Canada, U.S.A., Britain, Egypt, Japan, and Jamaica. He has served on numerous Master and Ph.D. Examination Committees as a member or as External Examiner. In addition, he is a reviewer for a number of national and international journals and research grant organizations.
