BiographyDonald Gerwin received his Ph.D. from the Graduate
School of Industrial Administration, Carnegie-Mellon University. He is
an emeritus professor and adjunct research professor in the Sprott School
of Business at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and lives in Paris.
He is also a Visiting Professor at the Department of Management of Technology and
Innovation, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. At Carleton,
he held a research chair in technology management and headed the Research
Program in Managing Technological Change financed by the Canadian government
and high-tech firms. Previously, he was a Research Professor at the School of
Business, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
He is co-author of Management of Advanced Manufacturing
Technology: Strategy, Organization and Innovation, and has published
in Management Science, Operations Research, Academy of Management
Review, Organization Science, Administrative Science Quarterly,
Harvard Business Review, and other journals. He has served as the
Department Editor for Manufacturing Systems for the IEEE Transactions
on Engineering Management, an Associate Editor for Management
Science, and on the editorial boards of other journals.
He
has been invited to do research at ESSEC (Cergy, France), University of
Paris X (Nanterre, France), the International Institute of Management
(Berlin), IIASA (Vienna), and the Institute for Social Research in
Industry (Trondheim, Norway). His research interests are in managing new
product development within and between firms.
