The Singapore-Johor Causeway

Completed in 1924 after four years' work, the singapore-Johor Causeway is 1056 metres long and extends to a depth of 23 metres below the water level. Singapore gets a good deal of its fresh water supply from large water pipes which have been laid across the Causeway from Johor. The Malaysian english language newspaper, The Star, reported last week that there had been calls, from the government level and down, to review Malaysia's water supply agreement with Singapore.
