This course will cover the period from the Great Depression and the United States' entry into World War II down to the recent past. Broadly-speaking the main themes of the course will be the US's rise to global preeminence over the last half century, the transformation of American society and culture at home, and the relation between domestic developments and the US's expanding role in the wider world. Topics to be explored include:
America's cultural impact on the rest of the world. |
