I'm interested in issues of knowledge representation and algorithms for i) natural language generation and ii) structuring formal visual objects such as graphs, diagrams, etc. I lead the efforts of the Natural Language Interaction Group at the HOTLab, where we are developing iGraph, a system that generates descriptions of the information encoded in graphical representations of statistical data, a joint project with the Dissemination Division of Statistics Canada.
