Transitions Program

The Transitions Program, run through Student Life Services, is in the process of recruiting volunteers for the 2000-2001 academic year. The goal of the program is to assist students in achieving a balance between social activities and academics. Free study skills workshops as well as social events are integral parts of this program. In addition, Transitions provides volunteers with valuable leadership skills. There are three components to the program.....Transitions 1 volunteers work with first year students, Transitions 2 volunteers work with students on academic probation, Transitions 3 volunteers work with international exchange students. Applications are available at Student Life Services (501UC), Information Carleton, and the Residence Service Desk. If you know of any students who may be interested in such an opportunity, please pass along this information (JOB DESCRIPTION).

As a reminder, Student Life Services has drop-in hours available for students with a variety of study skills concerns. Topics that may be covered include: Note-taking, Active Reading, Exam Preparation, Time Management, Test Taking, Essay Writing, etc. Drop-in times are Tuesdays - 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursdays - 10 a.m. to noon (Location: Student Life Services - 501 Unicentre). Note: All workshops are one a "First come, first-served" basis and the one-on-one drop-in sessions are approximately 20 minutes.)
